Lorri Allen
Lorri Allen works with people who want to craft a clear media message and with organizations that need to communicate in crisis. Lorri coaches newsmakers who need to improve their ability to answer questions or who need confidence in front of reporters. In addition, Lorri provides "insurance" against a media crisis or insurance against looking stupid on television.
Lorri is qualified to do this after 20 years as a broadcast and print journalist. She has reported, anchored and produced TV newscasts, coordinating coverage for events ranging from the Oklahoma City bombing to the tragedies of September 11, 2001. As a corporate executive, Lorri has managed a staff, a budget and egos. She is currently employed as Director of Communications at Primedia Workplace Learning, based in Carrollton, Texas. Lorri is also an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business.
Lorri holds a degree in journalism from The University of Texas at Austin, is a regular feature writer for her city's community magazine, and a contributing author to two books. She produces two monthly e-newsletters and has hosted an internationally-syndicated radio program.
As a member of the National Speakers Association since 1996, Lorri is also active in her local chapter. She belongs to the Radio TV News Directors Association and Toastmasters International.
